nodular sclerosis hodgkin's lymphoma

our dr called and is nodular sclerosis hodgkin's lymphoma. sad because i do have cancer and no cancer is good. BUT...this is what my doctors thought and we have been given every reason to believe its curable. God is good. so now we gear up for some chemo...we will know more details once we talk to our doctor on aug 24th. he is letting me take the week off with no appointments! so we are heading to the outer banks and staying in our dear friends gorgeous beach house. my sister becky arrives today with her little boy, drake who is 7.5 months and my oldest sister allsion arrives thursday...so we will spend sometime at the beach and in the pool until sunday. unfortunately, on the 16th i start up again with a bone marrow biopsy and a metaport insert and a few more tests on the 18th and 19th. but for today i am free. free to head to the beach.

  5. Have fun at the banks! I read your blog every day, and I am praying for you and your family. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and after a double mastectomy and a 12 week chemo routine, she is doing fine today! It was a journey though. A loooong, annoying journey for her. Its amazing that such a small nuisance in your body can shape your whole life around it, isnt it? Hang in there girl, I know when all of this is over you will be a witness to other cancer patients.

  6. Libby,

I have been praying for this news since I found out you had lymphoma. This is SUCH good news! It's amazing to watch your and many others prayers being answered daily...from your sleep to Ava's sleep to peace to now a diagnosis of the most treatable kind of lymphoma. It's truly amazing to see God work for you and through you. I have bee reading your posts every day...you are an inspiration to me and many others and I know you are strengthening many peoples relationships with their spouses, children, and most importantly the Lord through your words. That is a important calling!

    Stay strong in Him!
    With love,

  9. Hi! I found your blog through my husband's co-worker's sister-in-law whom I have never met. Wild, right? Our stories are very different, but so much of what you have openly and vulnerably shared has resonated with me. The Body of Christ, love of family, God's grace, and your authenticity. Thankyou for journaling and allowing so many people from all over to be a part of this journey with you. Your testimony will draw those who don't know Christ to Him; and those who do know Christ will be inspired to want to know Him more deeply. I love that your husband writes letters to you on your blog. I might have to mention that to my husband;) I have prayed for you, and now that I "know" you, will continue to pray for your family as the Lord brings you to mind. Have a blast soakin' up some sun!

  16. Libby, you don't know me, but I found out about your blog through another blog I read (Brittany's Blessings- requesting prayers for you). My family just went through a cancer struggle (my 7 year old cousin, Bayler), and the one greatest thing I learned from it all is that it's times like these when God can be most glorified. You and your husband are inspiring with your strength and faith. You're in my prayers. Enjoy the Outer Banks.

  17. I don't know you personally, just saw your blog linked on a friend's facebook page, but I just wanted to encourage you. My father-in-law was diagnosed with lymphoma last winter, he decided not to treat it right up until he was at death's door. At the last hour he decided to start chemo, we feared it was too late, but it's amazing to see his pain go away, his strength return, his passion for life return. He's getting results today from his post chemo body scan and we're praying for full remission.

I'll pray for you also, God is good for helping you find out what you have and have the support to go after it right away.

  18. I am so happy for this diagnosis! That sounds funny to say, but I understand the difference. I think I mentioned that my father-in-law had Hodgkin's and so did Joe Tanis (remember him from Brookside?). This is the not so bad Lymphoma. But you will still be fighting and we will be here in Mich. fighting with you! Keep on smiling, praying, and loving! They say your attitude will make a huge difference in your treatment, healing and recovery! With love

  24. Dear Libby,

I hope you don't mind that I continue to comment. You are bringing me strenghth each day. I have a genetic disorder called hemochromatosis. Sounds bad but it's really not too bad - I just can't get rid of iron without phlebotomies - having a pint of blood drawn every couple of months. It's the least of my problems. Your probably familiar with a place called the "infusion center" at whatever hospital you attend. I've sat there many times across from cancer patients that are desperate for iron in their blood. I have too much iron - yet they can't find a way for us to help each other. It's a cold place to be, and the only warm thing in the room is Christ. I've seen dozens of brave women like you fighting through this. You'll win. I know it. Let's face it, there is no way for you to not win. I'll pray for you tonight.

  28. Hey Libby, I took a couple of days off from your blog and am now caught up. I'm so happy for you that the test results confirmed your doctors' suspicions, and that this cancer is treatable. I'm praying for you and your little family, and wish you much fun and peace with your loved ones at the beach this week.

  29. Hello Libby! Your sister-in-law, Sara and I taught together in Lexington about eight years ago. I found out about your blog through her blog. I lift you, Justin and your sweet daughter Ava in prayer. You will continue to be in my daily prayers. May God bless you all!

  30. Hey Libby,
I don't know you but I came across your blog from a friend in my church. I want you to know that I'm praying for your recovery and I want to encourage you as well! My Aunt had this exact same cancer when I was young. She had 2 young children at the time, had to go through the chemo, lost her hair (she wore a scarf instead of wigs), and made a full recovery. She has been completely cured for about 15 years! You sound like such a fighter, I know you can beat this!
