Babe, thanks for being real (from Justin)

Well, when I put this video together my goal was to find the happiest, most joyful, happy, jolly song (that's incredibly happy). Why? Because the moment was so incredibly sad, wonderful, and full of heavy courage -- big courage. Libby has real courage. I have no idea what its like to get your haircut, as a woman, but this experience proved to me that its a spiritual, physical, and mental thing. It was a heart thing for Lib. Our emotions were all over the place, and I tried to let the video reflect that (even when Libby was mad at me for thinking she was going to get a "boy" haircut). I know your family and friends would have loved to join in this moment. I hope this helps, because now they can see your sweet reaction. Baby, your reaction to the new haircut is incredible. It's so real. I love you for being real.

Libby, the MOST important thing I could ever tell you at this point, regardless of the haircut, is that to me you are beautiful. In fact, more beautiful than ever. You are beautiful in Christ, and His opinion and feelings towards you are what actually matters. They do not even compare to mine in their affection, and how beautiful He thinks you are. Christ is honored in you, and that is gorgeous. You did it. This is a great step for you in a process that has just begun. I am here by your side. Your haircut is beautiful, but who you are in Christ is what is shaking my world.

With Love,
Jason
Justin

  1. Since I already have a terrific son-in-law named Jason, it would be best if you remain my favorite son-in-law named Justin? (That is what you have told me in the past, "favorite," right?)

Not to slight my other fabulous son-in-law named Chris. However, you all take a way back seat to my beautiful-always-will-be-can't-alter-that-with-a hair-cut-daughter, Libby. (I'll have to mend this with Allison and Becky later!) Love you darlin' and always will! Your haircut doesn't feel like YOU to you, but that doesn't make it unattractive, just unfamiliar.

Ava, don't let anyone convince you that you are defined by your hair. It will be difficult, because, if you follow in the family tradition of fab hair, you will feel like it does sometime. But how you treat your Mom & Oma is way more important. :)

    Love, Oma

  2. Libby, I love your haircut! It looks great. And I know you say that your hair is already thinner, but it is still way thicker than mine has ever been :) But I agree with Justin, your hair is not what makes you beautiful, who you are in Christ does. Lots of love to you today!

  13. okay...i just watched the video and i have to admit i got teary...funny how we hold on to things like hair...but we do...and that's okay...what i love is that you have let it go and embraced your new look...and you're right "sweet" is a dumb word...so you don't look "sweet", you look like the most beautiful little sister in the whole world...with long or short or no hair that's what you will always be...watching this journey from afar is no fun...but i don't suppose that watching it from real close would be much fun either...but at least from near by i could have an iced mocha with you...be blessed...becky
